Taking it down the field at Silver Terrace
Brief Description: Silver Terrace is a large multi-sport park nestled between Hwy. 101 and the Silver Terrace neighborhood, just down the hill from Thurgood Marshall High School, which uses the field for some after school sports. The athletic field features a full-size baseball diamond with grandstands, a softball field and sufficient extra space for a multi-use/soccer field.
Before renovation: Despite the high demand for city playfields, this rough, weedy, uneven and pock-marked field is rarely booked for organized ground sports due to its poor condition.

After renovation: The Collaboration between City Fields Foundation and the Department of Recreation and Parks will replace the entire athletic field with artificial turf, including the baseball and softball diamonds and outfields and add a full-size multi-use/soccer field and movable goals. A popular walkway around the field and associated landscaping will be restored and new fencing, lighting and benches will be added to the area. Bathrooms will be improved and a reservation system will be created.

"The Silver Terrace renovation greatly improved the quality of sports here at Thurgood Marshall. In addition to being a much safe playing surface, the new fields have given out students a renewed sense of enthusiasm for playing sports and a strong sense of pride for their community field."
